Hey, Black Seattle! Backing Black-Owned Business

At Launch Industries, we are deeply committed to community empowerment. One initiative we proudly support is Hey, Black Seattle!, a platform that serves as a directory of Black-owned businesses in the Seattle area. For us, supporting this work is not a side project. It reflects how we think about the local economy and the role small businesses play in keeping it healthy.

Seattle's small-business community is one of its greatest strengths, and Black-owned businesses are a vital part of that picture. They create jobs, anchor neighborhoods, and offer goods and services that give the region its character. A directory like Hey, Black Seattle! makes those businesses easier to find, so the support they earn is the kind they can actually feel.

What Hey, Black Seattle! does

The idea behind the directory is straightforward and powerful: gather Black-owned businesses across the Seattle area in one place so that residents, visitors, and other businesses can discover them and choose to shop intentionally. Instead of hoping you stumble across a great local shop, restaurant, or service provider, you can search for one and put your money where your values are.

That visibility matters. Many excellent small businesses do everything right (great products, fair prices, real care for their customers) and still struggle simply because not enough people know they exist. A well-maintained directory closes that gap. It connects ready customers with businesses that deserve them.

Why we support it

We work with small businesses every day, so we see firsthand how much difference visibility and community support can make. A new customer, a repeat order, or a referral can be the thing that lets an owner hire one more person or stay open through a slow season. When a community decides to show up for its businesses on purpose, the effects compound over time.

Supporting Hey, Black Seattle! is one way we put that belief into practice. Inclusion and opportunity are not abstract ideals to us. They show up in who gets seen, who gets hired, and which businesses get the chance to grow. Helping more people find and support Black-owned businesses is a practical, durable way to strengthen the whole region.

How you can get involved

Supporting the directory does not require a big commitment. A few simple habits go a long way:

  • Browse and shop the directory. The next time you need a meal out, a gift, a contractor, or a professional service, start by looking for a Black-owned business that fits the bill.
  • Spread the word. Share the directory with friends, coworkers, and neighbors. Word of mouth is still one of the most powerful things a small business can receive.
  • Leave a review. If you have a good experience, say so publicly. Honest reviews help other customers feel confident choosing the same business.
  • List your business. If you are a Black-owned business in the Seattle area, getting listed is a free, easy way to reach customers who are actively looking for you.

Stronger together

A local economy is healthiest when opportunity is broadly shared and every business has a fair shot at being found. Hey, Black Seattle! advances that goal in a clear, useful way, and we are glad to stand behind it. We encourage you to explore the directory and make a Black-owned business part of your next purchase.

And if you run a small business in the Seattle area and want help with the practical side of growing, from bookkeeping and payroll to HR, branding, websites, and marketing, that is exactly the work Launch Industries does. We would be glad to talk through where you are and where you want to go.
